Privacy Policy
Short version: Apsody collects only what it needs to work. We use your camera to scan ingredients, your account info to manage your subscription, and anonymized usage data to improve the app. We do not sell your data.
1. Who We Are
Apsody ("we," "our," or "us") is a mobile application that uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized recipes from ingredients scanned by the user. Our app is available on Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store).

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Account information: Name and email address when you sign in with Google or Apple.
- Dietary preferences: Restrictions, allergies, fitness goals, and number of people you cook for. This is stored to personalize your experience.
- Text inputs: Ingredients you type manually and any specific dishes you request.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Camera images: Photos taken to scan ingredients are processed in real time by our AI (Google Gemini Flash 2.0). Images are not stored on our servers after processing.
- Location (country-level only): We detect your country via IP address to provide locally relevant recipes (e.g., Peruvian dishes for users in Peru). We do not collect GPS coordinates.
- Device information: OS version, device model, and app version for debugging and compatibility.
- Usage data: Screens visited, features used, and session duration, collected anonymously for product improvement.
- Subscription status: Managed through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription tier and entitlement status but not full payment card details.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To generate personalized AI-powered recipes based on your ingredients and preferences.
- To authenticate your account securely via Google or Apple Sign-In.
- To manage your Apsody Premium subscription through RevenueCat.
- To store your dietary preferences and settings so they persist across sessions (Supabase database).
- To improve the app through anonymized analytics.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. AI Processing
Apsody uses Google Gemini Flash 2.0 to process ingredient images and generate recipes. When you scan your fridge, the image is sent to Google's API for processing. Google's data handling for this API is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
We send only the image and your preferences (country, dietary restrictions, meal type) to the AI. We do not include personal identifiers in AI requests.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your account data and preferences are stored in Supabase, a secure cloud database provider. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit using TLS.
Camera images are processed in real time and are not permanently stored on our servers.
Subscription data is managed by RevenueCat, which handles payment processing securely. We never store or have access to your full payment card information.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following trusted service providers, strictly to operate the app:
- Google (Gemini API, Sign-In): AI recipe generation and authentication.
- Apple (Sign-In with Apple): Authentication for iOS users.
- Supabase: Database storage for user preferences and account data.
- RevenueCat: Subscription management and entitlement verification.
- BuildShip: Backend workflow orchestration for recipe generation.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data. You can do this directly in the app via Settings → Delete Account, or by contacting us at support@apsody.app.
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
- Opt-out: You can disable usage analytics in the app settings.
8. Children's Privacy
Apsody is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at support@apsody.app.
9. Camera and Permissions
Apsody requests camera permission solely to allow you to photograph ingredients for recipe generation. This is optional — you can also type ingredients manually. Camera access is requested at the time of use and can be revoked at any time through your device settings.
10. Subscriptions and Payments
Apsody offers a Premium subscription with a 7-day free trial (annual plan). Subscriptions are managed through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Payments are processed by Google and Apple, respectively. RevenueCat is used to verify your subscription status within the app.
To cancel your subscription, use the subscription management tools provided by Google Play or the App Store. Cancellation stops future charges but does not provide refunds for the current billing period, in accordance with store policies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification.
