How ingredient scanning works

With Premium, you open the camera in Apsody and capture the ingredients in front of you. Apsody detects food items in the image and uses them as the starting point for meal ideas.

Scanning is meant to speed up the first step — getting ingredients into the app — not to replace your judgment about what is actually in your kitchen.

Why scan instead of typing

Scanning can be faster when you have several items at once, like a counter of groceries or a shelf in the fridge.

It also helps when you are not sure what to call something, or when typing on a phone feels like too much after a long day. Premium covers typed input too, so either way works.

What scan can help with

• A counter of fresh groceries you just brought home.
• A few vegetables and a protein you want to use together.
• Pantry items you would rather not type out one by one.

Once ingredients are detected, Apsody turns them into three directions — Quick, Fit, or Tasty — the same as typing. Learn more about that flow in what to cook with ingredients you already have.

Why results should be reviewed

Ingredient recognition may be inaccurate. Always review detected ingredients before cooking.

Image recognition can misidentify items, miss things in the background, or misread packaging and quantities. Before you generate or follow a recipe, check that the detected ingredients match what you really have.

This matters most for anything safety-related — allergens, freshness, and items you would not want in a dish. Use your own judgment as the final check.

Premium unlocks camera scan

Camera scanning is a Premium feature, and so is typed ingredient input. Apsody is free to download and explore; Premium is what unlocks ingredient input and recipe or drink generation.

If you prefer, you can type your ingredients instead — scanning is an option within Premium, not a requirement.
