Who We Are

Apsody is a mobile app for iOS and Android that helps you decide what to cook or mix with ingredients you already have. This policy covers the Apsody app and this website.

Apsody is operated by its developer, Alvaro Alexander Minaya Huertas, who decides how the data described here is used and is responsible for it. Address: Marco Schenone 281 Miraflores. Contact for any privacy request: supportapsody@gmail.com.

Using Apsody Without an Account

The current app does not ask you to sign in or to give a name, email address, or phone number. The first time you open it, our backend provider, Supabase, creates a random anonymous identifier for your installation.

We use that identifier to keep your saved recipes and drinks, to apply daily generation limits, and to link a subscription. RevenueCat, which manages subscriptions, receives the same identifier. We do not send RevenueCat a name or email address.

Accounts From Earlier Versions

Earlier versions of Apsody let people sign in with Apple or Google. If you did, your account may still exist, and it holds the email address — and your name, if your sign-in provider shared it — that came with that sign-in, until you delete the account. You can delete it in the app (see “Deleting Your Data”).

What Leaves Your Device

• When you ask for recipes or drinks: the ingredients you type, the pantry items you selected (food only), the photo if you scan one, and your choices for that request — meal, servings, language, country, and diet style (for example kosher-style). This goes to our server and on to OpenAI, as described below.
• Saved recipes and drinks, stored on our servers and linked to your identifier.
• Usage records: dates, counts, and status of your requests, used to apply daily limits. They do not contain your ingredients or recipes.
• Content reports, if you report a recipe or drink: the report type and reason, the recipe title, a short preview, app language, platform, app version, and your identifier.
• Purchase status for Premium, which Apple or Google share with RevenueCat. Apsody never sees your payment card.
• If you email us: your email address and your message.

What Is Stored on Your Phone

Your pantry list, preferences (such as country, language, and diet style), onboarding answers, the Bartender age confirmation, your AI permission choice, and the cooking reminder are stored on your phone, not in our database.

Stored on your phone does not mean never sent: the pantry items you select and your country, language, and diet style travel with each recipe or drink request, as listed above. The cooking reminder is a local notification; Apsody does not use a push notification service.

AI Processing with OpenAI

Recipes and drinks are created by OpenAI, our AI provider, through its API. We do not send OpenAI your identifier, name, or email address. Apsody does not store your photos: a scanned photo is forwarded to OpenAI inside the same request and is not saved on our servers.

Newer versions of the app ask for your permission before the first request, name OpenAI, and list what is sent; nothing is sent until you tap Allow, and you can withdraw it in Settings → Legal → AI processing. Earlier versions tell you that Apsody uses AI but do not ask for this separate permission. What is sent is the same in both.

What OpenAI Keeps

OpenAI processes this data under its API terms. OpenAI states that data sent to its API is not used to train or improve its models unless the customer opts in to share data.

For the API that Apsody uses (the Responses API), Apsody asks OpenAI not to store each request and its response for later retrieval (the store setting is off).

Separately, OpenAI keeps abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, unless the law requires longer. Turning off response storage does not change those logs. OpenAI also states that an image its systems flag as potential child sexual abuse material is kept for manual review.

OpenAI: data handling for the API

Service Providers

• Supabase: database, anonymous identifier and accounts, and the server functions that handle requests.
• OpenAI: creates recipes and drinks and reads ingredients from photos.
• RevenueCat: subscription status and purchase receipts.
• Apple App Store and Google Play: purchases and billing, under their own privacy policies.

We do not use any other AI provider for the app. If that changes, we will update this policy, and newer versions of the app will ask for your permission again.

No Selling, No Ads, No Tracking

We do not sell your personal data. The app contains no advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs, does not read advertising identifiers, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. This website has no analytics, pixels, or ad tools either.

How Long We Keep Data

• Saved recipes and drinks, and usage records: kept while your identifier or account exists, and deleted when you delete your data. Today they are not deleted automatically after a set time.
• If you uninstall the app without deleting your data: what is on your phone goes with the app, but what is on our servers stays. A reinstall usually starts with a new identifier and cannot reach the old data; if your phone restores the app’s data from a backup, the old identifier and data may come back. • Content reports: kept after you delete your data, for safety review. We have not yet set a period after which they are deleted.
• Purchase records: kept by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat under their own rules. Deleting your data in Apsody does not delete them.
• What OpenAI keeps: see “What OpenAI Keeps” above. Deleting your data in Apsody does not reach OpenAI.
• Technical logs of requests — which record codes, timings and counts, not your ingredients, photos or other content — are kept by Supabase according to its own retention settings, and deleted data may remain in our providers’ backups until those backups expire. Logs written before this change could include ingredient names; they expire under the same settings.

Deleting Your Data

If your app shows Settings → Legal → Delete my data (Kitchen → Settings), use it. It deletes your identifier or account and, with it, your saved recipes and drinks and your usage records on our servers, then clears your data on this phone and turns off the cooking reminder. If you signed in with an account in an earlier version, the same option appears as Delete account.

If your app does not show that option yet, update Apsody from the App Store or Google Play first: an update keeps your identifier and data, and then the option is there. Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription; subscriptions are managed in your App Store or Google Play account.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. Email supportapsody@gmail.com. Because the current app does not know your name or email address, we need a way to find and verify your data before acting on a request; the deletion page explains what we can use. We never ask for passwords, sign-in codes, or full payment card details.

Data Storage and Security

Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS) to our providers. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

Apsody is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Minors should use Apsody only with parent or legal guardian permission where required.

Device Permissions

Apsody asks for the camera only when you choose to scan, uses the system photo picker when you choose a photo, and asks for notifications only if you turn on the cooking reminder. It does not use your location, contacts, or microphone. You can change these permissions in your device settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product changes. If we change who receives your data or what is sent to them, newer versions of the app will ask for your permission again before sending anything.
